About the Founder: Suzanna Davis
Suzanna is a multidisciplinary dancer, teacher, world traveler, and mother, with decades of experience in dance, fitness, and community building. Her dance and movement journey includes Middle Eastern, African, jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop and more, as well as numerous workout routines. She discovered belly dance as strikingly different from all other forms, the only activity focused on complete torso fluidity. And through this movement practice she discovered her feminine power.
Throughout her professional belly dance career, she’s been a member of several companies -- including Fleurs d'Egypte, Forge Dance Theatre, and TaWaSol World Dance Ensemble -- as well as a soloist in hundreds of venues. For over 14 years she’s been teaching belly dance as a fitness practice as well as an art form with weekly classes, private coaching, and workshops.
In 2017 Suzanna officially formed RakasaFit. With this core fitness belly dance workout, she makes this timeless and global movement practice accessible to all.
Her global travels have encompassed Africa, Europe, North America, and Brazil, for work, study, and continued learning. This helped her realize and manifest her greatest purpose -- to dissolve artificial boundaries and facilitate peace through movement, dance, and music. She has earned degrees in theatre and management, and produced and collaborated on hundreds of shows featuring dance with live music, theatre, and audience participation in premiere entertainment venues. In support of her local and international work building community through movement and theatre, she has received several awards from University of Washington and King County 4Culture.
Through RakasaFit, she shares her passion for the universal power of belly dance.
